  • Jan 6 KYOTO

The trip kicks off in Kyoto! It's the first time the full crew is together. Shake off travel, get settled, and get a feel for the trip before things ramp up.

  • Jan 6-8

Two days in Kyoto to explore.

We’ll keep things flexible, but expect time around spots like Fushimi Inari Shrine, Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, and Kiyomizu-dera, along with local markets, food spots and maybe some snow mokeys

  • Jan 9

Northbound to Aomori. Flying to the top of Honshu, where it’s quieter, colder, and home to some of the deepest snow in Japan.

Aomori City averages around 8 metres (26 feet) of snow each year, making it one of the snowiest places on earth.

  • Jan 10 - 11

First days on snow in Aomori.

We’ll be riding Aomori Springs, settling into the conditions, finding our rhythm as a crew, and starting to tap into the kind of snow this region is known for.

  • Jan 12-14

We’ll be skiing off the Hakkoda ropeway, accessing wide open terrain, natural lines, and some of the most unique skiing in Japan. These days are all about exploring, finding the best snow available, and making the most of the mountain each day.

  • Jan 15

    We head to Nozawa Onsen.

We’ll arrive in time for the Nozawa Fire Festival, one of the most iconic winter festivals in Japan. The entire village comes together for a night of fire, tradition, and a huge amount of energy. It’s a major highlight of the trip and something you can’t really experience anywhere else.

  • Jan 16-18

We’ll be based in Nozawa for the next few days.

Staying in the same accommodation, we’ll use this as our base to explore the area, skiing Nozawa Onsen as well as nearby resorts like Madarao and Shiga Kogen.

Each day we’ll head out to wherever is skiing best.

  • Jan 19

Travel back to Tokyo. Transition day out of the mountains and into the final stage of the trip.

  • Jan 20-21

    Time in Tokyo.

We’ll be staying near Senso-ji Temple and Tokyo Skytree, giving us easy access to explore the area, local food spots, and some of the most iconic parts of the city.

No strict plan here, just time for the crew to explore, eat, and wrap up the trip properly.

  • Jan 22

    Departure day :(
The crew heads home with a lot of good photos, even better memories, new friendships, and probably a few new outfits.

What this trip is like

This is not a tour bus trip.

It’s a small group travelling through Japan together, skiing, exploring,
and making the most of each place we go.

I’ll keep things organised, but not over-structured. Each day is planned around conditions, weather, and what the crew is feeling, so we can get the best out of the trip rather than sticking to a rigid schedule.

Most days we’ll come together for group dinners, but there’s always the option to do your own thing if you feel like branching off and exploring.

Most people come solo, and it quickly turns into a tight crew.

We aim to get good value out of accommodation throughout the trip. It’ll be clean, comfortable, and well located, but not 5-star luxury. The focus is on the experience.

If you’re keen to ski, explore, and be part of a group that’s there for the experience,
you’ll fit right in.
