This photograph was taken at Shitenno-ji Temple in Osaka during the first ever Summit Saga Japan trip, the most ambitious project I had taken on at the time.
Standing beneath the temple gate, the wooden beams naturally framed the five-storey pagoda in the distance. The lines of the architecture guide your eye straight through the courtyard, creating a moment of perfect balance between structure, space and symmetry.
Shitenno-ji is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Japan, originally founded in the 6th century. Walking through the grounds you can feel the history in the design, where centuries-old architecture still shapes the way the space is experienced today.
When everything aligned in the viewfinder, the scene felt almost too perfect to be real. The kind of moment where the composition simply reveals itself.
Each canvas print is produced on a 1.25″ stretched pine frame and arrives ready to hang. Soft rubber dots are placed on the back to protect your walls and keep the print sitting straight and steady.
